From the Navy to the Narmy

The transition from the Navy on the west coast to the Army on the east coast went smooth. Now we are in the "Narmy" and we are "Sailders". They even have Narmy T-shirts. Our group was split onto two Navy C-9' s for a fast cross country flight. 3hrs 45min from runway to runway, we were smokin', even passed a few Air Force jets that weren't peddling fast enough, HA!
I got to run into an old friend, Eric (pictured). We drilled in the same unit in Denver for a few years before he got a good job out east. We haven't seen each other for probably 2 years so it was good to see him. His group is leaving as we are arriving so the timing was good.
Got to meet some of our Drill Instructors as we got here, yes I said Drill Instructors, complete with round brown, the difference between now and 21 years ago is they will wait until Monday to yell, not as we got off the bus. I don't think they can call us maggots anymore either, I think we graduated to being flies. No more Aye! Aye! Its "Hooah!!" or "Good to Go!?!", much simpler. From what Eric and others we met last night told us is the training is good but extremely long and tiring. So I'll be in touch in a day or two.

Hey - so how's your day? thought I'd give you an exercise. Do the following:

1. go to www.google.com
2. click on "maps"
3. click on "get directions"
4. type "New York" in the first box (the "from" box)
5. type "London" in the second box (the "to" box)
6. click on "get directions"
7. scroll down to step #23 or #24

I think the guys at Google have a sense of humor.

Take care Jim!!

Greetings;

Just thought I'd drop you a line. Believe it or not...we've got rain, winter storm warning, and tornadoes. Go figure...hope Ft. Jackson is quieter than this.

See ya,

Bark

I think cooler weather at this point wouldn't be too bad. Its hot and muggy here and wearing the new IBE Armor sucks!!
