Hi All, just thought I'd drop a line to say Hi and Thank You for the hat from Shadow Hills with everyones signature. I really appriciated and got a kick out of it. The people I work with thought it was a neat idea.
Well I looked at the calender, I have to do that from time to time because I really lose track of what day it is. I realized that I have been here a month and it has flown by. Days and nights blurr together. I am used to the Zulu time and don't give any thought to local time anymore. There is one clock I check once in a while that is the US east coast so I can tell what time it is at home. Again I get days and nights confused as to where you are at. I can't wait to unjumble this when I get back. Sleep wise I'm averaging about 6 hours unless something special comes up and then I get what I can. I have had the luxury of spending time in the gym, its starting to feel like when I worked out on a regular basis several years ago, not quite sure what I'm doing to my golf swing so i'll have to guage that when I get back. We were thinking about getting a club and go hit balls to the mine fields but then the thought of snipers and having to swing in full battle rattle did not sound to appealing so I'll hold off til I get back in the States. The by-product is I am losing weight and I can feel it. I have extra belt lenght that I didn't have before. Combined with eating 2 meals a day I shoud be alot lighter when I get back. Funny there is no fat people here, I wonder why. The downside to my scheduele and eating only two meals a day is I havn't had a dinner meal since I got here. I tried mid-rats a couple of times, don't get me wrong its good food, I chose to sleep a little extra. I make my main meal breakfast, which really is my lunch. Last week they had some leftover steak so no second guessing I had steak and eggs. the steak wasn't that good but none the less I think it was beef. So when I get home I won't need sleep, I won't need to eat, I won't need a day off because i would not have a clue what to do, I'll have some major reprogramming to do.
Its starting to get hot here, I'd compare it to Pueblo but not quite in the 100's yet. I chat with several friends in Iraq and they are telling me the temps is around 115-120 so my little wood hooch I live in with the disgusting heads is worth not baking in that heat. As you can tell the hair grew back rather quickley so I was brave to try another haircut. Still don't speak Russian but flat top seem to be understandable. Wash and go is the key. You get 4 minutes to take a shower so you need to spend the time wisely and wash the parts that needed.
Well I'm going to go to bed. Hope everybody is doing well. I'll write another day.
God Speed
Jim

Good to hear from you Jim. AS for the "steaks" - are you sure it's not goat?
Take care over there.
